Products & Materials

What plastic materials does Chennai Polyplast stock?

We stock polypropylene (PP, PP-H, PP corrugated), polycarbonate (solid, multiwall and profile sheets), polyethylene (HDPE, UHMW-PE), acrylic PMMA sheets, rods and tubes, GPPS, ABS, PVC rigid sheets and rods, PVC curtain strips, POM (acetal), PA6 nylon, PET, PTFE, polyurethane (PU), PEEK, PEI (Ultem), and industrial laminates including epoxy glass (G10/FR4), Bakelite, phenolic fabric, phenolic paper, Syndanio and silicone rubber. View the full range on our Products page.

Which plastics are best for high-temperature applications?

High-performance plastics such as PEEK, PEI (Ultem) and PTFE are used where parts must keep their strength at high temperatures. Silicone rubber offers excellent thermal stability for seals and gaskets. Contact us with your operating temperature and we will recommend a grade.

Which plastics are best for wear and abrasion resistance?

UHMW-PE offers extremely high wear and abrasion resistance with a self-lubricating, low-friction surface. POM (acetal), PA6 nylon and cast polyurethane are also widely used for wear parts, gears, bushes and liners.

Which materials are used for electrical insulation?

Epoxy glass (G10/FR4), Bakelite, phenolic paper and phenolic fabric laminates offer superior electrical insulation with good mechanical strength. PEEK and PEI are used where insulation is needed at higher temperatures.

Which transparent plastic sheets do you supply?

We supply acrylic (PMMA) sheets, rods and tubes for crystal-clear transparency, polycarbonate sheets for impact resistance, and GPPS sheets. ESD acrylic and ESD polycarbonate sheets are available for transparent antistatic covers and machine guards.

What is the difference between HDPE and UHMW-PE?

Both are polyethylene. HDPE (high density polyethylene) has excellent impact resistance, high tensile strength, low moisture absorption and chemical resistance, and is FDA approved. UHMW-PE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) has much higher wear and abrasion resistance and a self-lubricating, low-friction surface, making it better for sliding and wear parts.

What is the difference between PP and PP-H?

PP-H is polypropylene homopolymer. It is extremely strong and highly resistant to chemicals, corrosion and heat, which makes it suitable for chemical tanks and process equipment. Standard PP is light, strong, chemical resistant and has a low-friction surface, and is often used as a replacement for wood or metal.

Can I get custom thicknesses and sizes?

Yes. Custom thicknesses and sizes are available on request across our sheet and rod range. Share your required dimensions and quantity with us for availability.

ESD Products

What is ESD and why are ESD-safe plastics needed?

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the sudden flow of static electricity that can damage sensitive electronic components. ESD-safe plastics are designed to dissipate static charges safely, preventing equipment failure and production losses in electronics assembly, semiconductor and precision manufacturing.

Do you supply ESD or antistatic plastic sheets and rods?

Yes. Our ESD / antistatic range includes ESD POM, Ricocel, Bakelite, G10/FR4, Durostone, PA6 nylon, PTFE, ABS, acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, PEEK, PEI and PP corrugated sheets. These static dissipative materials protect sensitive electronic components in electronics, semiconductor and cleanroom applications. See all ESD products.

Which material is used for solder pallets and wave soldering fixtures?

ESD Ricocel and ESD Durostone are the usual choices for solder pallets because they combine heat resistance, flux resistance and stable antistatic properties. ESD G10/FR4 is also used for fixtures and electronic workstations. See ESD Ricocel and ESD Durostone.
